In accordance with the prestigious Leiden Law School doctorate requirements, Dr. Che Zuhaida published her thesis entitled ‘National Space Legislation: Future Perspectives for Malaysian Space Law’ and defended her thesis in an open presentation attended by professors, students and the public. Leiden University is the oldest university in the Netherlands and has produced many great thinkers and renowned world leaders. The Law School itself is one of the most respected and prestigious institutions worldwide. Dr. Che Zuhaida’s success endued her with the right to sign her name on the wall of the so-called ‘Sweat Room’, a Leiden academic tradition, along with the signatures of Sir Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela and Her Royal Highness Beatrix van Oranje-Nassau, Queen of the Netherlands.
Her Ph.D thesis is a huge contribution for the Malaysian space development as it analyses the legal frameworks of selected national space legislations, namely United Kingdom, Australia and United States of America and proposes a draft of Malaysian Outer Space Act with a number of significant clauses.

Her courage, endeavour and achievement should be highly lauded for setting a precedent for Malaysians to undertake challenges in academia.
